Country Fried Chicken

A deliciously crispy and juicy fried chicken recipe that you can easily make at home.

  • 1 pound chicken thighs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 2 hours.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Dredge the marinated chicken in the flour mixture until well coated.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry the chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the skillet and let it rest on a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double dip the chicken by re-dipping in buttermilk and then the flour.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked to 165°F.
