Garlic Knots

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a knot shape.
  7. Place knots on a baking sheet and let rise for an additional 20 minutes.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Brush over the warm knots and sprinkle with parsley and oregano.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add more garlic to the butter mixture.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
