Simple Bolognese

A warm and comforting bolognese recipe that uses turkey bacon for a healthier twist on the classic dish.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces turkey bacon
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and chop.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Serve over pasta and top with chopped turkey bacon and Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • This dish pairs well with a side salad.
  • You can substitute turkey bacon with regular bacon if preferred.
