Slice and Bake Cookies Recipe

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Divide dough in half, and shape into logs. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice logs into 1/4 inch thick slices, and place on ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden. Allow to cool on baking sheets.

Notes

  • For a fun variation, add nuts or dried fruit into the dough.
  • Make sure to chill the dough thoroughly for easier slicing.
