  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between greased cake pans.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Prepare the chocolate buttercream and frost the cooled cakes.
